Traditional Irish Soda Bread
One fabulous quick bread for breakfast, lunch, or anytime.

- 3 c. flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1-1/2 c. California raisins
- PROCEDURE
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.
Stir flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in a large bowl. Stir in buttermilk, butter and egg; mix well. Stir in raisins. Knead several times on a lightly floured board and shape into a ball. Arrange on prepared baking sheet and flatten slightly. Slash an X in the top and bake for 50 to 55 minutes, until golden and skewer inserted near center comes away clean. - Nutrition Information (per serving)
