Caramel Dipping Sauce with Raisins and Chocolate

This one is a good way to get kids -- and adults, too -- and fruits together.

  • Yields 1 3/4 cups sauce

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. butter
  • 2 tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. whipping cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. California raisins
  • 1/4 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
PROCEDURE
In medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, syrup and cream. Cook over low heat until mixture boils, stirring constantly. Cook until sugar dissolves. Cool completely. Stir in raisins and chocolate chips. Store in refrigerator and bring to room temperature before serving. If mixture thickens, stir in a little cream. Serve with apple and pear slices as dippers.
